Russell Brand has been found guilty of rape and sexual assault at Southwark Crown Court in London.

The 51-year-old comedian and actor was convicted on Thursday, 5 November, of one count of rape and three counts of sexual assault.

He was cleared of two other counts of rape and one count of attempted indecent assault.

What Happened In Court?

The trial lasted around three weeks. The jury deliberated for about eight and a half hours before delivering the verdicts.

Brand was found guilty of:

  • Raping a 21-year-old fan in 2009 after she met him after one of his shows in west London
  • Groping an MTV worker at a bar in central London in 2004
  • Kissing and groping another woman
